Cancún International Airport (CUN): Approximate driving time is 15 minutes and distance is 7.5 miles.

Driving directions from Cancún International Airport (CUN): Take airport access road east and follow signs to Zona Hotelera and Blvd Kukulcan. Proceed on Blvd Kukulcan, resort is approximately six miles ahead on the right side of road.

Authorized taxis, minivans (or collectivos), and private cars are the best way to make the journey from the airport to your hotel. Transportation options can be accessed as you exit the terminal to your right. A private taxi to downtown Cancún: $16–$25 USD. A private taxi to the Hotel Zone: more than $36 USD. Collectivos provide transportation to downtown Cancún: $5–$15 USD. A private car service to your hotel can be arranged: more than $36 USD. Rental cars are available at the airport and on this Web site: more than $36 USD. Note: Only authorized taxis are allowed to transport guests from the airport to their hotels. However, all taxis can take passengers to the airport from the city or Hotel Zone–cutting the fare almost in half.

Getting around: The hotel is located within Zona Holtelera, or Hotel Zone. Most attractions in downtown Cancún are within walking distance. Public and private buses connect the Hotel Zone to downtown and ferries: less than $5 USD. Taxi rates in Cancún are determined by zones and the minimum fare within the Cancún Hotel Zone is $5 USD per ride. A list outlining the various taxi rates throughout the city should be available at your hotel's front desk: $5–$15 USD. Taxis can be rented by the hour or day if you want to visit the historic ruins outside of the city: more than $36 USD. Always negotiate your taxi fare before beginning your trip. Rental cars offer a convenient way to visit historic points outside the city: more than $36 USD. Mopeds are a convenient, yet extremely risky, way to get around the city and islands: $26–$35 USD.

Lobby Bar - With a pool table at one end and a big-screen television set at the other, this spacious lounge serves as the hotel's convivial social center. Tropical drinks and tequilas highlight the bar menu.

Sunset Bar - Open to both the Caribbean and lagoon sides and serving lunch on a terrace overlooking the main pool, this spot attracts guests to observe the sun setting behind the lagoon.

    AMENITIES & SERVICES
What to expect: Warm, transparent, turquoise water, sand the texture of fine sugar and nearly as white, ample spaces for semi-private sunbathing, and warm hospitality make this a memorable, relaxing Caribbean vacation.

Amenity highlights: The presence of two beaches offers sunbathers both morning and afternoon sun. The morning beach runs a quarter-mile on the Caribbean. The afternoon beach fronts the lagoon that is located between Cancún Island and the mainland. Both offer padded lounge chairs and thatched-roof palapas. The sea is flat enough for languid paddling and snorkeling but usually provides enough foamy beach waves to thrill children. For ecological reasons, swimming is not recommended in the lagoon. However, there are rental kayaks and pedal boats for exploring the lagoon.

Several levels of terra-cotta-colored sundeck surround the main pool, which is large enough for swimming laps. The upper-level sundeck includes four small, diamond-shaped pools, two shallow enough for children. One has a swim-up bench along the Sunrise Bar.

Located on the lagoon beach is a temazcal, or Mayan bath. Volcanic stones inside the stucco hut are heated so guests sweat out impurities while breathing in pleasant aromas and relaxing to music. Also on the lagoon beach, five interlocked spas offer cool-water repose.

Insider tip: At night, a thatched lifeguard shack on the beach makes a romantic hideaway for enjoying moonlight on the Caribbean. Calling out "Hello?" before ascending the ladder is recommended.

A dazzling example of Mexi-Caribe architecture, the 385-room, six-floor hotel displays a light-colored rough-concrete exterior. Bright-pink and cool-blue accents recur throughout the hotel. Monumental touches pop up, such as an enormous white-concrete fruit in the main restaurant, huge balls around the pool, and random stands of colored columns. The hotel is suffused with cheerful, bilingual Mexican hospitality. A health-and-beauty spa includes men's and women's sections with lockers, steam rooms, saunas, and rooms for massage and body wraps. A 15-foot-diameter spa serves both sexes, as does a mirrored aerobics room and an exercise area containing machines and free weights. Next to the spa, two rooftop tennis courts are lighted for night play and surfaced in carpet and sand. Like all major Cancún hotels, the Westin Regina is equipped with a water-purification system.

On the lagoon side, a beach hut serves as headquarters for the Westin Kids' Club, a complimentary, supervised activities program for ages 4–12. Complimentary shuttle service runs every 30 minutes to the Westin's sister hotel, Sheraton Cancún Resort & Towers, which is situated across the street from a stylish shopping center and a 15-minute stroll from Cancún Island's nightlife, shopping, and dining center.
